So, the big news this week is that Vue and Plant Factory are being discontinued. Bad news.
However, the good news is that they have now put them up for download and they are FREE TO USE FOREVER. Perpetual licence, no subscription. Absolutely free!
Up until around 18 months ago, I'd been using Vue 2015 Infinite and Plant Factory 2015. I hadn't updated since then as the pricing had just gone way beyond what I was prepared to pay and certainly not worth it for the revenue earned from using it. When I got my current PC, I discovered that I could not install it on here. Something to do with "dependencies" and although I tried the fix that worked for others, it just would not install.
Now, however, I have downloaded the latest and last versions (2024) and have them installed and working, got the key required (also free) to unlock my old files so that they work in the newer version too. All good and I now have a renewed interest in making products for Vue.
Back as far as 2018, I'd started on a new "Autumn Collection" as my original set goes back to 2007, so it's SEVENTEEN years old, which, in itself, is quite scary. I never got around to finishing it as back then, any plants created in TPF were locked and could only be used by the creator and could not be sold on the open market. However, that has now changed. They can be sold and they are not locked. This means that as well as low poly background plants and slightly better HD plants, I can now include "Hero" plants with much better definition and completely new plants, not modifications of native Vue plants, which is how all content creators had to do it previously.
So, I have restarted my Autumn set, updating the existing plants and then I will add the extra TPF created plants too, along with updated materials.
Here's a screenshot of the plants so far. Some are the older ones not yet updated so may look a bit naff 😉
In the meantime, I'm also working in Plant Factory on those Hero trees and plants. Here's a peek at a work in progress Birch tree
In addition to trees, like the earlier version, there will be other plants, ground materials and anything else I can think of
If you've never used Vue, or like me, had an older version and want to update - don't forget you can do so now for FREE! No subscription fee, no licence fee...free to use forever. Link below
